Aurelie Nemours, née Marcelle Baron en 1910 est une artiste peintre française décédée en 2005. Aurelie Nemours s’inscrit en 1921 à l’école du Louvre pour étudier les arts égyptien et byzantin. Puis en 1941, elle rentre à l’académie d’André Lhote. Parallèlement, elle travaille le modèle vivant chez elle et découvre dans le corps le rythme qui la pousse à peindre. Dès 1945, elle commence à écrire de la poésie. Elle expose pour la première fois au Salon d’art sacré en 1946 (elle y expose jusqu’en 1979) et se passionne pour le vitrail. Sa première exposition personnelle a lieu chez Colette Allendy, en 1953,  elle découvre Mondrian. Elle fréquente l’atelier de Fernand Léger de 1940 à 1951. Elle adhère au groupe « ESPACE » à partir de 1957 créé par André Bloc.
Aurélie Nemours vient à l’abstraction en 1949. Depuis lors elle effectue des recherches sur le jeu des lignes et leur rapport à des surfaces colorées, sur les angles, le point, sur des formes géométriques, horizontales et verticales, qu’elle conçoit comme des archétypes.

Avant toute élaboration, elle procède à des mesures, études, esquisses et dessins. Puis elle va à l’essentiel, en noir et blanc ou en couleur ; pour elle, la couleur est « énergie pure ». Elle travaille par séries. 1965-1970: Le carré devient le format essentiel de son œuvre. En 2001 un prix Aurelie Nemours a été créé par l’artiste, décerné à un créateur dont l’œuvre traduit l’exigence de rigueur et le combat pour les valeurs de l’esprit, quelle que soit sa discipline et la forme de son expression. Elle a ainsi souhaité voir honorés, maintenant et dans l’avenir, les artistes qui ont travaillé de façon conséquente et novatrice dans le domaine de la pensée en affirmant leur propre vision. Elle s’est arrêtée de peindre en 2002. Le Centre georges Pompidou à Paris, en 2004, propose une rétrospective de son œuvre sous le titre «Rythme, nombre, couleur».
